Questions owners ask before a marketing rescue

These are the questions trades owners ask us most often after a marketing arrangement went wrong, answered plainly. If yours isn't here, call, text or email.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

Most owners who contact Trade.Repair have the same handful of worries: what it costs, whether they'll be tied in again, whether they'll ever get their accounts back, and how they'll know it's working this time. The answers above are short and direct. Below is some context on the questions that need more than a paragraph.

Frequently asked questions

We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?

We can't speak to anyone else's work, and we won't ask you to trust us on faith. Every account stays in your business's name, plans are month-to-month, and reports are built from numbers you can check in your own accounts. If it isn't working, you can leave easily.

How much does a rescue cost?

Rescue work is scoped inside our plans, which start at $1,999 per month or $1,499 per month billed annually, plus GST/HST by province. The first 30-minute consultation is free for eligible trades businesses.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Plans are month-to-month with 30 days' notice to cancel. Annual billing is optional and lowers the monthly rate.

Who will own my website and accounts?

Your business. The domain, hosting, Google Business Profile, ad accounts and analytics are all held under your business email. We work as added users that you can remove at any time.

How long does it take to recover a Google Business Profile?

If the current owner cooperates, a few days plus Google's 7-day wait before ownership can be fully transferred. If they don't respond, it depends on Google's request and support processes, which we can't speed up.

Can you recover my domain if it's in someone else's name?

We can show you what the registry record says and the registrar's process for changing it. Whether you're entitled to it can be a legal question, and for that you'd need a lawyer.

Do you give advice on my contract with the old agency?

No. We don't give legal advice or interpret contracts. We document the facts about your accounts, which can help when you speak to a lawyer.

Will you criticise my previous provider?

No. We never name or disparage other firms. The audit reports facts: what exists, who controls it and what it produced.

Do you need my passwords?

Never. You add us as a user on each account with our own login. That keeps a clear record and lets you remove us in one click.

When will leads come back?

Paid search can bring calls within days of a careful relaunch. Google listing improvements and SEO build over months. We set expectations by channel and won't promise a number.

How do you report results?

Monthly, in plain language: cost per tracked call, booked jobs from your own records, and Google listing calls. We'll also show you where to find each figure yourself.

Are you a contractor?

No. We don't install, repair or service anything. We repair marketing: listings, accounts, websites and campaigns.

Do you work outside BC?

Yes. We work with trades in all 10 provinces and 3 territories, and our region pages cover the language, licence and program details that affect marketing in each.

About cost and commitment

The short answer is that there's no long-term contract and no separate menu of rescue fees. Rescue work sits inside a month-to-month plan, which means you can judge us month by month.

The entry plan costs $1,999 a month, dropping to $1,499 a month if you pay annually, with GST or HST for your province on top. Ad spend is separate and paid from your own billing account. The pricing page shows all three plans and a quick break-even test you can run with your own job values.

About getting your accounts back

Recovery is usually possible, but the timing belongs to the platforms. Google, domain registrars and ad platforms each have their own published processes, and we only use those.

What speeds things up is preparation: knowing which emails might own each account, having your business registration details on hand, and sending a short, factual request to whoever holds access now. The account recovery service and profile recovery service explain each step, and the agency exit checklist lets you start alone.

About contracts, disputes and what we won't do

We document facts and recover access through official routes. We don't give legal advice, interpret contracts or take sides in a dispute.

If your agreement with a previous provider is still running, or ownership of something is contested, speak to a lawyer before cancelling or changing anything. Our audit report can serve as a clear factual summary for that conversation. We also don't do trade work, give code-compliance advice or promise ranking or lead numbers.

About knowing whether it's working

You'll know because you can check it yourself. Every report ties spend to tracked calls and booked jobs, and every figure links back to an account you own.

If you'd like to sharpen your own eye first, the guide to reading agency reports shows the five checks we'd apply to any report, including ours. And the results page shows what our HVAC work has produced, presented honestly as HVAC results.

About ownership after we start

Everything stays in your name from day one. If we create a new account, such as a call-tracking line or a Search Console property, it's created under your business email and we're added as a user.

That's deliberate. The most common reason owners need a rescue is that an account was opened under someone else's login for convenience, years ago, and nobody thought about it again. We'd rather spend a few extra minutes at setup than ever put you back in that position. Each quarter we also run a short ownership check, comparing every account's owner against your register, so nothing drifts.

About the first few weeks

The first two to four weeks are mostly recovery and documentation. You'll get a written plan, a running ownership register and short updates as each platform step completes.

Expect a few small tasks on your side: approving an access request from your email, confirming a verification code, or answering a question about which services you want more of. We keep those to a minimum and tell you in advance when one is coming. The services overview explains what happens at each stage.

Still have a question?

Call, text or email. The contact page explains what to include so we can give you a useful answer on the first reply, and about explains who you'll be talking to.
